The main goal of this class is to have fun! So try to enjoy yourself as you learn the basics of web design and development. Yes, your other goal is to learn about web design and development, but having fun is an integral part of this particular course.

Your Main Project
- To create a personal web site for yourself that is 100% custom designed and 100% coded from scratch.
- 100% your content: all fun stuff (e.g. lists of your favorite things like movies, video games, songs, etc)
- 100% your design: you choose the colors, fonts, etc. (have fun!)
- 100% your code: you will write each and every line of code (HTML & CSS) by hand, from scratch. Don’t worry, even coding can be fun!

How are you going to do it?
One Step at a time…
Throughout this course, you will follow a multi-step, iterative design process that includes defining, drafting, designing, developing, and delivering a custom website. More details on the process will follow in the lessons ahead, but for now here are some of the main steps:
- You’ll need to Get Setup
- Setup your server environment, establish a local workflow, post a simple work-in-progress website
- You’ll need to Gather Content
- Lists of your favorite things, photos, and custom designed graphics
- You’ll need to Customize the User Interface (UI)
- Use various design software and technologies to create custom user interfaces and user experiences
